Missing Persons in Nevada: A Widespread and Growing Crisis
Missing Persons in Nevada. Nevada has experienced a steady rise in missing people cases. In 2021, the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) reported 9,011 missing persons cases across the state. This increase places Nevada among the states with high numbers of disappearances. Many of these cases involve children, elderly individuals, and those with mental health issues. Nevada’s vast desert regions and urban centers, such as Las Vegas, are particularly challenging for search efforts.
The situation continues to worsen each year. Las Vegas alone reported 1,200 cases of missing persons in 2020. These numbers highlight the urgency for better systems and awareness to find and recover those missing.
