On April 9, 2009, Alyssa called Barbara around 6:30 p.m. Barbara told Alyssa that Gracie’s condition was worsening. Alyssa promised to come home soon.
The Last Known Sighting
A witness reported seeing Alyssa near 30th Avenue South and Kent-Des Moines Road later that evening. She was near a green 1990s pickup truck, possibly with Oregon plates. This was the last confirmed sighting of Alyssa.
A Terrifying 911 Call
In the early hours of April 10, 2009, Kent Police officers arrived at Alyssa’s home. Her phone had dialed 911, and the call lasted only 10 seconds.
The call featured a woman screaming, “Help me.” A man’s voice responded, “I’ll hurt you.” The line then went dead. Police traced the call to Alyssa’s address, but she was not there. Her phone had no GPS tracking capabilities.
