At approximately 7:30 a.m., a woman’s anguished screams shattered the morning silence. Neighbors rushed to their windows, confused and frightened. Soon after, someone called emergency services. Within minutes, police arrived at the 100 block of Cochise Drive.
Inside Laportia’s apartment, officers discovered a gruesome crime scene. Laportia had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while Kadeisha had been shot once. Both women had died instantly.
Authorities also found a small-caliber handgun at the scene, along with several shell casings. Strangely, no one recalled hearing gunshots. Even Angel, who lived just next door, remained unaware until the screams began.
“I did not hear gunshots,” neighbor Morgan Rodabaugh later told reporters. “I’m surprised it didn’t wake me up. I just heard the woman screaming about the bodies.”
A Targeted Act of Violence
