Sean Bryan Hawley

Description:

Sean Bryan Hawley is a U.S. Navy veteran who went missing on the afternoon of May 9, 2015, in Lake Champlain, Burlington, Vermont. Witnesses saw Sean in a black inflatable kayak, even though a severe storm was approaching. According to his mother, Sean had been struggling with transitions in life after leaving the Navy less than a year prior. He was last seen by individuals at a campsite who tried to convince him to stay due to the inclement weather, but Sean insisted he was trained as a Navy diver. He gave them his truck keys, stating he wouldn't need it anymore and later indicated he just wanted to enjoy life without worries. Despite concerns from bystanders, the Coast Guard could not search immediately due to storm conditions. After Sean's family reported him missing, a search operation was launched. His deflated kayak was found days later on Stave Island, along with personal belongings, including Navy-issued trousers. At the time of his disappearance, Sean was 25 years old, standing between 6 to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 to 185 pounds. He has gray eyes and red hair.
