#VERMONT #SeanBryanHawley #VETERAN MissingAge:25 MD: 5/9/2015 Sean Bryan Hawley is a U.S. #Navy #Veteran who went missing after last seen on the afternoon of May 9, 2015 in a black inflatable kayak by a witness in the area of Oak ledge Park which is located on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. According to his mother, Sean Hawley had been home from the U.S Navy less than a year when he started to resent life and could not figure out what to do with his life. He closed his bank account and started to sell everything he owned. Sean started to act strange 2 days before he went missing. Sean Hawley observed by some people running up and down a beach in Burlington, Vermont and running in and out of the very cold water, telling people he was training for the Navy. The police were called and he was taken to the hospital, but he was released the next morning and told to seek help. Sean Hawley had been staying at a friend’s house and upon being released from the hospital, he went back to the friend’s house and painted his inflatable kayak black. On Saturday, May 9, 2015, Sean went to the Coast Guard in Burlington, Vermont and told them he would be out on the water. This is something that people don’t usually do. At 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015, Sean called his friend Nick and told him that he was going to go out kayaking, even though there was a very bad storm at the time, it was dark, and the kayak was painted black. Sean told Nick not to worry about him, that he would be back in a few days, and that he would have his phone off. About 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015, Sean spotted a campsite on the edge of the water and stopped for a few minutes before telling the couple of men camping that he was going to get back out on the water. The men at the campsite tried to get him to stay because of the storm, but Sean told them that he was trained as a Navy diver and would be all right. The men at the campsite noticed that Sean did not have a life vest on. Before leaving to get back on the water, Sean gave one of them men the keys to his truck and told them where it was parked. Sean then told the men that he would not be needing it anymore. Sean told the men at the camp that he just wanted to enjoy life, be happy, and not have to worry about anything. Concerned for Sean’s safety, the men at the campsite called the coast guard, but the coast guard could not go out because of the storm. On May 10, 2015, Sean Hawley’s family received a call that he was missing. The Coast Guard and Police searched for Sean for five days. On the third day, the Coast Guard found his deflated kayak on a private island named Stave Island, on Lake Champlain. They searched the island and found a makeshift campsite with Sean Hawley’s Navy issued trousers with his name on them hanging in the trees. There was summer home on the private island that was not occupied at the time and the search team found a couple piles of clothes, books, and lanterns on the deck of the house. Sean Bryan Hawley is 25 years old as of the date he went missing in May, 2015. Sean Hawley is described as a white male standing 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 to 185 pounds.
